What is an auto electrician?

Most of the problems in a modern car are primarily associated with a malfunction of the car’s electrical equipment. Since the modern electrical equipment of a car is a rather complex component, not everyone, even a person who understands electrics, is able to correctly assess and even more so fix the malfunction that has arisen. That is why, when problems arise in a car’s electrical system, most people immediately turn to a car electrician.

Auto electrician is perhaps the most multifaceted section in car repair. Working with an electrician requires special knowledge. Improperly repaired electrical wiring can lead to fire, failure of any of the safety-related systems and entail tragic consequences. The electronic equipment of modern cars is quite complex. If you remove the main panel in the cabin, then under it you will find countless multi-colored wires that connect to each other, with various devices, go under the hood and diverge throughout the cabin. In general, electronics greatly facilitate and simplify the process of driving a car. Thanks to the electronic control unit, which almost independently of the driver controls the operation of almost all systems and parts, the likelihood of accidents is significantly reduced. Well, the undoubted advantage of a car electrician is the comfort that it gives inside the cabin: lighting, air conditioning, music, etc.

However, the initial purpose of any auto electrician is to start the engine and further maintain it in working condition, otherwise our car will not budge and will not be able to perform its main function. If you just put a spark into the fuel cylinders, the car is unlikely to start. For a normal start of the internal combustion engine, an initial simulation of normal operation is required. Therefore, it is necessary to rotate the main axis of the engine while simultaneously supplying fuel to the cylinders and allowing further ignition through the electric spark. As a result, there will be a start and pickup of the action, with further independent work (provided that the mechanisms are fully operational).

The main components of the car electrical system

First of all – power supplies: battery and electric generator; mechanisms for starting and further movement: a starter, a high-voltage coil, a spark distributor, electric spark plugs, a mechanical or electronic control unit for generating this spark and controlling all this in the form of switches on the driver’s panel.

The accumulator and the electric generator, working mutually, complement each other. The battery makes it possible to carry out the initial start of the entire electrical and mechanical system of the vehicle as a whole. The electric generator picking up the start, then continues to work, taking the entire power load onto itself. This is due to the reason that the storage battery itself cannot provide long-term operation, due to its limited internal capacity, but unlike an electric generator, it initially has the necessary electrical energy to start.

An electric generator, on the contrary, for its work, initially needs an initial working impulse, having received which is able to further provide both the power supply of the car itself and giving electricity to charge the battery.

Secondary elements include the lighting that is present in any car. It can be divided into the following components of auto electrics:

  • main headlights (high and low beam);
  • parking lights;
  • turn signals and brake lights;
  • fog lights;
  • various internal and external lights.

These lighting parts of the car are controlled from the driver’s dashboard via switches. Also, mention should be made of the horn, or, more simply, the sound signal that is available in every car.

Now for the specific measurements in the car. Fuel tank capacity, battery charge, engine speed, vehicle speed must be taken into account while driving, especially on long journeys. Control is carried out by installing various sensors and indicators. The sensors are installed in places where certain characteristics of the car’s operation are taken. For example, fuel level, oil level, pressure and temperature values. And further from these sensors themselves, the value goes to the measuring instruments on the main driver’s panel. They clearly show their value on indicators. These indicators are in the form of all kinds of warning lamps, sound alarms, dial gauges and other indicators. In simpler cars, these systems simply show the value, while in expensive and modern cars stuffed with electronics, a whole series of processes take place, ranging from a simple notification to a complete blocking of the car.

The last group includes all sorts of additional elements that expand the overall functionality of the car: windshield wipers and automatic window lifters, which are powered by small electric motors, cigarette lighters, heaters, air conditioners, audio systems, electronic alarms and locks.

By what signs can you determine that you need the services of an auto electrician:

  • the rechargeable battery is quickly discharged;
  • you have to often change the battery, although the guaranteed service life has not come out;
  • there are malfunctions in the operation of lighting equipment – the headlights shine too brightly or, conversely, dimly;
  • there are malfunctions in the operation of the air conditioner, security system, audio system, sensors, navigator;
  • self-diagnostic systems give errors that are associated with electronic components and sensors;
  • the wiring is damaged – the integrity of the insulation is broken, the contact groups of the wires are oxidized, there are breaks.
